How to Use the DenSureFit Upper Denture Reline Kit

To achieve a snug fit on the upper denture, most people will need 2 silicone applicators. The full kit is utilized to establish a great initial fit. But what is the purpose of the extra silicone and Snug-Up Tip? Even with a great initial fit using DenSureFit, some individuals may experience loosening of their dentures a few days or weeks later.

What Causes Dentures to Loosen After a Reline?

Loosening after a soft reline can occur due to several reasons, including:

• Shrinking of gums, especially within the first 18 months post-extraction
• Reduction of inflammation, which can occur without awareness, caused by hitting or rubbing of the gums on hard acrylic when eating, medications, or other situations

What is a Snug-Up Application?

In the case of denture loosening, it may not always be necessary to remove and reapply the DenSureFit liner. Instead, additional silicone can be applied over the existing liner in the middle of the trough area to fill the new void and snug the denture back up, known as a Snug-Up application. Detailed instructions for the Snug-Up procedure can be found in the instruction booklet. It is important to note that the silicone liner must be in good condition and free of bacteria in order to add more to it.

Using the Extra Silicone Applicator and Snug-Up Tip

If your denture is very loose, you can use the entire applicator of silicone all at once for a Snug-Up and save the Snug-Up Tip for future use. Alternatively, you can apply half of the applicator of silicone when the denture is slightly loose, following the Snug-Up instructions in the booklet.
